If you have a Brother Printer AND Windows 10 on your computer, you might be in for some trouble - if not already.
The latest update from Microsoft for Windows 10 (called 22H2) has been caused many computer users trouble with their Brother scanner and - printer, as it often causes and issue with the Brother Control Centre.
This means they can no longer use the scanner and may have trouble printing.
It won't affect all computer users, but if your laptop or other computer has Windows 10 this might affect you.
If this is you - What can you do?
1. Delay updates: as a preventative measure, if you have a Pro version of Windows 10 you can defer the Windows updates on your computer for up to 90 days, which gives Microsoft and Brother a chance to fix the issues before installing the updates on your computer.
Go to Settings > Update & security > Advanced options - choose "Semi- Annual".
Then change the box below to 90 (meaning 90 days).
2. Reinstall: If your Brother printer is already not printing or scanning - consider using the uninstaller tool and then reinstalling the Brother printer software. But this repair does not usually fix the scanning issue. In fact, we find reinstalling Windows from scratch is often the only way to remedy the damage.
3. Use the Windows Scanning Software: If your Control Centre isn't working, look at using the Windows software instead? Click on the 'Start' menu, type the word 'scan' and click on the app that comes up called 'Scan'.
4. Try a different brand printer: Computer Help doesn't really like to offer this idea but unless Brother and Microsoft (probably mostly Microsoft) can sort this out it makes Brother printers less desirable.
