If something goes wrong with your computer tomorrow and all your files and photos are suddenly gone - are you prepared? Do you have a backup system in place, so you can get them back? Is it working? When is the last time you checked?

What is a Backup?
A backup is a way of copying the contents of your computer to another place. Then you have two of everything and if you lose one, you can use the backup copy. Best of all is to have THREE. The original and two different backups. This means you will be prepared for a variety of situations and your files and photos will be safe.

Do I have a backup system?
If you have an external drive that you plug into your computer and software program that copies your files automatically to this drive, then you have a backup system. We recommend Veeam or Time Machine for this. For some people, we also recommend further protection with a cloud solution called iDrive. The next question to ask is, "Is my backup working?"
If you don’t have anything like this set up, the free check will let you know exactly what you need.
How Do I Get a Free Check?
Drop in your laptop (or desktop, iMac, MacBook, AIO or PC) and your backup device (probably an external hard drive) to our workshop at 160b Selwyn Street, Christchurch, for a FREE check. We'll inspect your computer backup and check if it's working correctly. This usually takes about 15 minutes, so drop it off and grab yourself a cup of coffee. After the inspection is complete, we'll let you know what we found. If your backup isn't working well, we'll give you expert advice on what we think the best solution would be. At that point, we'll leave it up to you to decide what you want to do. No obligation. Genuinely.

Veeam has just advised the public that they have a security flaw in the older versions of their app and an upgrade to version 6 is strongly recommended. You can download this yourself and install the new version or get us to do this for you. The download can be found near the bottom of the page at https://www.chnz.co.nz/backup
