We've been fixing computers in Christchurch since 1997, and a lot of what we've learned along the way fits on a single picture. So that's where it's going.
Twice a day, around 9am and 6pm, we post a quick tip on Facebook and Instagram. Some are useful. Some are just silly. The good ones are both.
What we post
A few recent ones:
- Shut Down isn't Restart. When we say "turn it off and on again", we mean Restart. Windows' Fast Startup turns Shut Down into more of a nap, so the problem comes back with it.
- "Hi Mum, it's me, new number." Before you pay the bill they ask for, ask them the dog's name.
- A clicking hard drive isn't being chatty. It's a cry for help. Switch it off and get your photos backed up before it goes quiet for good.
- Guess what was in this PC? Honestly, we don't know either.
And dust. We see so much of it that we've started naming the dust bunnies.
The busy one. Tips, photos from the workshop, and a heads-up when a scam is doing the rounds. Occasionally a story about a garden gnome. (That was Josh.)

Short videos, most of them well under a minute: what to do, what not to do, and the odd bit of nonsense. If you've ever wanted to meet Kevin, the dust bunny we evicted from a PC, he's there. So is David, playing Pin the RAM.
Why follow a computer shop?
Fair question. Most of the jobs we see started small. A fan getting louder, a laptop running hot, a text that looked real enough. If one of our posts helps you catch it early, you save money and we've done our job.
You don't need all three. Pick the one you already use and hit Follow (or Subscribe, on YouTube). Two posts a day, then we leave you alone.
