Two Fresh Laptop Donations

Two Fresh Laptop Donations:

Napish Aotearoa & Revolution Church

Our Community Help Project (CHP) is all about putting good tech back to work for good people. This week, we were stoked to donate one refurbished laptop each to two local groups doing real, on-the-ground mahi:

  • Napish Aotearoa (napish.org.nz) — a peer-led community supporting people in Aotearoa who live with narcolepsy and other hypersomnias, helping them navigate life “one unexpected nap at a time.”

  • Revolution Church (revolutionchurch.co.nz) — an authentic, contemporary church in Christchurch focused on pointing people to Jesus and building a life-giving community where everyone matters.

Why these two?

Napish Aotearoa is making narcolepsy more visible and navigable in NZ. They’re peer-led, practical, and people-first—creating resources, support spaces, and projects grounded in lived experience. A reliable laptop helps them coordinate members, build resources, manage support groups, and keep their information hub current.

Revolution Church is a vibrant local faith community. From Sunday gatherings and connect groups to youth ministry and online services, they’re busy serving people across Ōtautahi. Having an extra workhorse laptop means smoother comms, faster admin, and more capacity to create materials and run events. (They meet at 442 Tuam Street and also share services online.)

Bailey’s delivery run (and a quiet shout-out)

You’d see Bailey in the handover photos—he personally delivered both machines - but he forgot to send me one! That’s funny, because Bailey did a big chunk of the reconditioning work too: data-sanitising drives, testing RAM and storage, updating firmware, and giving each unit that final reliability check we insist on before a CHP donation leaves the bench. It’s easy to miss how much care goes into “second-life” tech; Bailey makes sure our donations feel first-class.

What we donated (in plain English)

  • A solid, quality laptop for each organisation.

  • Fresh OS install, updated drivers, and all security patches

  • A lightweight productivity stack (browser, office apps, video-meeting ready)

  • Entire computer health checked, RAM & storage tested, and fans cleaned

  • Guidance on backups and safe-use basics

The goal is practical readiness: open the lid, sign in, and get on with the real work—community, care, and connection.

Little laptops, big ripple effects

A dependable computer doesn’t just “save time.” It unlocks possibilities:

  • Create & share resources quickly (guides, event flyers, forms)

  • Run meetings online when people can’t get across town

  • Keep admin tidy—memberships, rosters, emails, planning docs

  • Collaborate with volunteers and partner groups

  • Tell stories: publish updates that attract new supporters

That’s the heartbeat of CHP: small upgrades that make everyday impact easier.

Thank you, supporters

Donations like these are possible because people in our community gift us their surplus devices and trust us to wipe them, fix them, and place them where they’ll have the most impact. If that’s you—thank you. You’re part of this win.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “We’ve got a couple of laptops gathering dust,” we can put them to work. And if you know an organisation that could use a machine to amplify their good work, point them our way.
